Removal and replacement procedures 34

Diskette drive

CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless

all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.

To remove the component:

1. Power down the server (on page 26).

2. Remove the bezel ("Bezel" on page 27).

3. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 28).

4. Disconnect the power and data cables from the drive and the system board ("System board

components" on page 68).

5. Remove the diskette drive.

To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

SATA optical drive

CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless

all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.

To remove the component:

1. Power down the server (on page 26).

2. Remove the bezel ("Bezel" on page 27).

3. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 28).

4. Disconnect the power and data cables from the rear of the drive and the system board ("System

board components" on page 68).
