Figure 25 Flow of Authentication of Fibre Channel Switch
Each case in the flow is explained as follows. Case A to Case D in Figure 25 on page 48 corresponds
that below.
• When pe
rforming authentication of Fibre Channel switches by ports:
• If the user information for the Fibre Channel switch is registered on the port, and authentication
of the Fibre Channel switch is enabled (Case A):
Each port authenticates the Fibre Channel switch. If the authentication of the Fibre Channel
switc
h ends successfully, either of the following actions occurs:
• When the Fibre Channel switch is configured for mutual authentication, the processing will
go on to authentication of the port.
• When the Fibre Channel switch is not configured for mutual authentication, the Fibre
Chan
nel switch will connect to the storage system.
If th
e Fibre Channel switch of the port is not configured for authentication with CHAP, the
auth
entication fails and the Fibre Channel switch cannot connect to the storage system.
• If the user information for the Fibre Channel switch is registered on the port, but authentication
of the Fibre Channel switch is disabled (Case B):
The ports do not perform authentication of the Fibre Channel switch. The Fibre Channel switch
wil
l connect to the storage system without authentication regardless of whether or not the Fibre
Cha
nnel switch is configured for authentication with CHAP.
• If the user information for the Fibre Channel switch is not registered on the port (Case C):
