NAS Sync Image (Required when copying the le system managed by NAS Sync Image
using Continuous Access XP Journal)
Notes on operations
UID for user reg
istration and GID for group registration in primary/secondary sites
With Continuo
us Access XP Journal, the le owner information (UID and GID in the primary site) and
quota and ACL information for each user (UID in the primary site) and group (GID in the primary site)
included in the source le system are copied to the secondary site. Note the UID for user registration
and GID for group registration in the primary and secondary sites (as explained in the following
sections) when you share the NFS/CIFS and set the quota or ACL in the target le system.
Register the same user name (or group name) in both sites. The quota and ACL settings
are also the
same.
For local authentication, assign the same UID (or GID) to the same user name (or group name)
in both sites. For NIS, share the NIS server in both sites. For domain authentication, share the
domain cont
roller.
Register the same user name (or group name) in both sites. (The quota or ACL settings are
different for each site.)
Set the quotas or ACLs again in the secondary site each time the Continuous Access XP Journal
volume pai
rissplit.
Register the user (or group) in only one site.
For local authentication, do not assign the target UID (GID) in another site to ensure that the UID is
not overlapped with the UID (or GID) of the another user in the another site.
For NIS, s
hare the NIS server in both sites. For domain authentication, share the domain controller.
Mounting the NFS client for a lesystemwhosedataisbackeduponline
If you perform online backup for a le system accessed by the NFS client by secondary copy, you must
specify NFS version 3 before mounting a NAS Blade le system on the NFS client. If you specify NFS
version 2, you must specify the hard option before mounting a NAS Blade le system on the NFS client.
Limitat
ions on Continuous Access XP operations due to the status of cluster, nodes, and resource
groups
When a cluster is not congured, the cluster is stopped, nodes are stopped, resource groups are
ofine, and connecting the device le or creating and mounting a le system is restricted. Due to
these restrictions, the following operations performed in the target Continuous Access XP Journal
operation also end in error. Therefore, you should not operate the cluster, nodes, and resource
groups during the Continuous Access XP Journal operation. Should problems occur with the cluster,
nodes, or resource groups, x them immediately.
•Unmou
nt and mount the source le system during the splitting of a Continuous Access XP
Journal pair volume.
Connect the target le system to the NAS package.
•Unmo

resynchronized.
Notes on changing system conguration during Continuous Access XP Journal operations
When changing the following system congurations during Continuous Access XP Journal operations,
you must change the RAID Manager XP conguration denition lesinCL1andCL2towhichthe
