Validation status
After you have specified your storage configuration, confirm that the server WWN has been
associated with the storage port WWN and LUN by pressing the Validate button.
See “Validating storage” (page 78) for more information.
Defining a file (VM) storage entry
The File (VM) Storage Entry screen allows you to specify the file storage configuration for an
ESX or Hyper-V virtual machine logical server.
File (VM) storage can reside on a local drive or on a SAN drive.
Perform the following steps to define a File (VM) storage entry.
1. Enter the “File (VM) storage entry definition” (page 69)
2. Enter the “File (VM) storage selection” (page 70)

1. Optional: Change the name of the storage entry by typing in the name box. Each storage
entry is given a unique default name.
2. Optional: Enter a description for the storage entry. If you enter a description and insert the
entry into the storage pool, it is displayed in the Select Pool Entry drop-down menu on
the Modify Storage Configuration tab and the Create Storage Configuration screen.
