Thiscommandiseffectiveforallcharacters(exceptforHRIcharacters)andiseffecitveuntiltheprinterisinitialized,

reset,orpoweredoff.

Instandardmode,theverticaldirectionisthepaperfeeddirection,andthehorizontaldirectionisperpendiculartothe

paperfeeddirection.However,whencharacterorientationchangesin90degreeclockwise-rotationmode,therelationship

betweenverticalandhorizontaldirectionsisreversed.

Inpagemode,verticalandhorizontaldirectionsarebasedonthecharacterorientation.Whencharactersareenlargedwith

differentsizesononeline,allthecharactersonthelinearealignedatthebaseline.Whencharactersareenglargedwidth-

wise,thecharactersareenlargedtotheright,startingfromtheleftsideofthecharacter.

Theselectprintmode(1B21n)commandcanalsoselectorcanceldouble-widthanddouble-heightmodes.However,the

setting of the last received command is effective.

Exceptions

Ifnisoutofthedenedrange,thiscommandisignored.

Innativemode,theverticaldirectionislimitedto7(seventimesheight)whenTallfontisselected.If8(eighttimes

height)isselected,theresultsareunspecied.
