5. Assign permissions to the other servers in the cluster.
There is one complication on imported VMware disks: If the LUN is a Raw Device Mapped (RDM)
LUN, you must remove and re-map the imported RDM LUN to the virtual machine (VM) configuration.
This is done on a VM-by-VM basis.
1. Before importing the LUN, check each VM for RDM LUNs and record the back-end LU number
and the VM LU number.
2. Shut down the VM and remove the RDM LUN mappings.
3. Import the LUNs .
4. Re-create the RDM LUN mappings.
5. Power on the VM.
Configuration
Fibre Channel zoning
The basic zoning requirement includes at least two zones: front-end and back-end.
• The front-end zone includes the ESX server's HBA ports and the DPM target ports (by default DPM
port 0 and port 2).
• The back-end zone includes the DPM initiator ports (by default DPM port 1 and port 3), VSM ports
(port 0 and port 1), and the storage system controller FC ports.
Storage system
The basic requirement is to have at least one configured LUN presented from the storage system. To
configure the storage system:
1. Configure a LUN.
2. Configure the LUN masking to include the DPM and VSM server ports. Each LUN must be presented
to both DPMs and both VSM servers using the same LUN number for all cases. Use the host type
“Microsoft 2003 Non Clustered.”
3. Load balance the LUNs (if more than one) between storage systems or controllers.
HP Command View SVSP GUI
The following steps are an overview of the GUI configuration process:
1. Configure at least one storage pool from the LUN presented by the storage system.
2. Configure at least one virtual disk from that storage pool.
3. Configure a user defined host (UDH) for the VMware servers using the appropriate personality.
4. Assign the virtual disk to the VMware servers.
To configure the HP Command View SVSP GUI:
1. Verify that you can see the LUN presented by the storage system as back-end LUs.
2. Follow the HP StorageWorks Command View SVSP User Guide for instructions on how to create
a storage pool.
