• Emergency (2% free)
• Delete all PiTs (starting from the oldest)
Individual mechanisms
Percentage on an individual virtual disk
When free capacity drops below the threshold:
• Notification occurs every five minutes
• PiT creation is stopped
• User is not permitted to create new volumes
• Expansion thresholds for thin volumes, PiTs, and snapshots are reduced to 1 GB per expansion
request.
PiT capacity planning
When looking into PiT capacity planning it is important to understand the Recovery Point Objective
(RPO). That is, what is the frequency of PiT creation and the retention period (how long do you need
to keep the PiT around). Some experimentation may need to be done to calculate the average rate
of change of a volume. It is this amount that dictates the size of the PiT.
